Campbell statement on potential ‘fiscal cliff’

STATE CAPITOL, PHOENIX – House Minority Leader Chad Campbell, D-Phoenix (District 14), released the following statement regarding the “fiscal cliff.”

“Congress must set aside the partisan bickering and agree on an overall deficit reduction package. If Congress can’t come to an agreement by the end of the year, everybody will face automatic tax increases – including the 98 percent of Americans who make less than $250,000 a year. Congress has an obligation to find a balanced approach to reducing the national deficit while promoting ways to grow our economy and the middle class. Our best hope for moving forward is consensus between Congressional Republicans and Democrats and the president. In Arizona, House Democrats are focused on improving education, creating jobs and putting a stop to an extremist Tea Party agenda. We are prioritizing people over a political agenda and that is exactly what we need members of Congress to do. That is what will best serve the people of Arizona and our country.”
