Statement from Larkin on Brisbon shooting

“As
we work to move forward, it’s vitally important that the community be included
in discussions and decisions about how police interact with our residents. We
need to look at the policies in place that could be contributing to a breakdown
in the system. The level of communication must be better and police officers
need the resources to build relationships within the neighborhoods they patrol.
They have to show people in the community that they can be trusted to protect
and to serve them. Community members must also get involved to ensure their
needs are being met.
“Cities
and towns across the country are facing these same issues. In Phoenix, we
should be setting the example for the rest of the nation because we know we are
strongest and safest when we are working together.”
