Wheeler on Ariz. Supreme Court decision to allow challenge to Medicaid expansion: ‘This is one step in a long legal process’

STATE CAPITOL, PHOENIX – Assistant House Democratic Leader Bruce Wheeler, D-Tucson (District 10), released this statement after the Arizona Supreme Court announced today that 36 Republican legislators can continue their legal challenge of Medicaid expansion.

“This is one step in a long legal process. The majority of the Legislature supported Medicaid expansion because it is good for our state’s hospitals, residents and economy. Since we passed Medicaid expansion, hundreds of thousands of Arizonans have better access to medical care. We knew when the law passed that it would be challenged. We expected this fight. Just as we expect that, in the end, the Superior Court ruling will be affirmed and this issue will be settled.”
