AZ House Democrats Call for Congressional Investigation of ICE Killing of Renee Good

PHOENIX – House Democratic Leaders today called for a Congressional investigation into the killing of Renee Nicole Good by rogue ICE agents in Minneapolis. Good, 37, had stopped her vehicle along with her wife, to film a protest of an ICE raid, when a masked agent shot her in the head. House Democratic Leaders released the following statement:

"Renee Nicole Good should be alive and at home with her 6-year-old child today. With multiple videos from multiple angles, and multiple witness statements, including from Good's spouse, it is clear and conclusive that the Trump Administration is lying about what occurred on Wednesday in Minneapolis.

In contrast to the narrative being parroted by federal officials:

·       Good can be seen waving ICE vehicles through from where her vehicle was parked, not attempting to impede them.

·       It has been reported that Good was being given contradictory commands from ICE agents to both move and to get out of her vehicle.

·       When Good pulled forward to leave, her wheels were turned to the right to avoid hitting the agent who shot her, not to strike him. One bullet was fired at an angle into her windshield, and two more from the side through her open driver-side window.

·       The ICE agent who killed Good did not appear to be injured when he walked up an inspected her vehicle after firing the fatal shots.

·       According to law enforcement experts, the shooting did not follow standard police procedure for use of deadly force.

·       Medical professionals on the scene were reportedly prevented from rendering aid to Good.

Congress must investigate -- first to find its own backbone and authority under our Constitution -- and then to exercise its oversight duty, get to facts with transparency and objectivity, and hold those responsible to account if our laws have been violated. If a U.S. citizen exercising her fight of free speech can be killed by federal authorities with no consequence, then it can happen again to anyone, anywhere at any time."
