PHOENIX – Rep. César Chávez and members of the Hispanic Rotary Club of Phoenix will hold a drive-through food giveaway on Sunday morning for families in Maryvale who have been hard hit by the COVID-19 pandemic and economic slowdown. Chávez and club members have collected more than 100 boxes of food to distribute. Media members are welcome to attend the event, which will run from 9 a.m. to noon at Pescaderia el Puerto de Guaymas, 4434 W. Thomas Road in Phoenix.
“There are numerous components of action that are necessary to keep our communities afloat. Not only is accessibility to COVID-19 testing necessary but access to the basic essentials like nutrition," said Chávez, D-Phoenix. "My district unfortunately ranks second for children living in poverty in the State of Arizona, and that's the reason why these efforts are extremely important.”
